Constantinople, 1909: In the hidden world of Sultan Abdulhamid II's harem, two friends, Fatima and Eliza, dream of a future. Fatima, ambitious and beautiful, does everything she can to become the sultan's favorite - through seductive dances, intrigues and alliances with eunuchs. Eliza, a European kidnapped in her youth, longs for freedom and escape from her golden cage. The country is in the midst of the Young Turk Revolution and World War I: the sultan is overthrown and exiled in 1909, and his luxurious harem is dissolved. Hundreds of women - from concubines to maids - are left alone in the abandoned Topkapı Palace, facing hunger, disease and external threats. Fatima fights for power in the chaos, forming alliances with politicians and soldiers, while Eliza searches for love and identity in forbidden romantic encounters. The story follows their fates through murders, friendships, and betrayals, culminating in the collapse of empires in 1918 and new beginnings in the Republic of Turkey under Ataturk.
