Prljavo kazalište – Crno-bijeli svijet is the band's second studio album, released in 1980 by Suzy. It is one of the key achievements of the Croatian new wave, with hits that marked the beginning of the eighties.
Crno-bijeli svijet is the second studio album by the Zagreb band Prljavo kazalište, released on June 27, 1980 by the record company Suzy. The album was produced by Ivan Piko Stančić and recorded at the Milan studio Electroformati. It is considered one of the most significant achievements of the Croatian and Yugoslav new wave, with the band abandoning the rawer punk sound of their debut and turning to ska, new wave and melodic rock.
The album contains the songs Crno-bijeli svijet, Moderna djevnica, Nove cipele, Nedjeljom utučro, Neka te ništa ne brine, Zagreb, 17 ti je godina tek, Neki moji prijatelji, Sam and the big hit Mi plešemo. The title track and Mi plešemo became the album's trademark, while songs such as Nove cipele, Zagreb and Neki moji prijatelji eventually gained cult status among the band's fans.
The recognizable cover, designed by Mirko Ilić, was inspired by the aesthetics of the British 2 Tone movement, which is also reflected in the album's musical expression. It was the last studio album by Prljavi kazalište with Davorin Bogović as the lead vocalist before his departure from the band. Today, Crno-bijeli svijet is considered one of the most important albums in domestic rock discography, and the original LP from 1980 is highly sought after among vinyl collectors due to its musical value and historical significance.
