Im Mittelpunkt der Handlung steht der illegale Kampf von Fabrikarbeitern und sozialistischen Revolutionären. Der Roman beschreibt das Leben in der Kleinstadt Okurov und thematisiert die Sensibilisierung und den Kampf für Rechte.
