Roman U traganju za izgubljenim vremenom je roman o vremenu čija tema je metaforička, jer je čitavo djelo alegorija života koji traga za svojim opravdanjem, ono je slika puta koji je razmaženi dječak prošao do umjetničkog zvanja.
Ciklus romana U traganju za izgubljenim vremenom životno je djelo Marcela Prousta čiji se cjelokupni prijevod u Hrvatskoj pojavio 1965. godine u izdanju poduzeća "Zora". Radi se o najvažnijem francuskom romanu 20. stoljeća, a literatura o tom djelu je najopsežnija u francuskoj povijesti književnosti. To djelo je jedna od odrednica kretnji u razvoju modernog romana u cijelom svijetu.
