Tko je sa mnom palio kukuruz (Pakrački dnevnik)

Veljko Barbieri

"Who Sown Corn with Me" (1996) by Veljko Barbieri is a collection of autobiographical and semi-autobiographical stories in which the author, through humor, nostalgia and irony, describes his childhood and youth in the Dalmatian environment.

Through seemingly everyday events – family mishaps, childhood misadventures, loves, friendships and fears – Barbieri portrays growing up with a strong sense of place and time. The stories intertwine warmth, wit and wistful reflection, and the central motifs are family, identity and growing up. The book is written in a vivid, Mediterranean style and brings a gallery of characters who remain in the memory for their humanity, temperament and warmth.
