Hiljadu i jedna noć

Hiljadu i jedna noć

One Thousand and One Nights was created when the vizier's daughter, Scheherazade, offered stories on the altar of her salvation.

Scheherazade told King Sheherban a new story every night. In this way, she saved herself and all the other girls in the kingdom from certain death. Disappointed by the infidelity of his first wife, Sheherban had her killed and declared all women unfaithful. Therefore, he decided to receive a new wife into his bedchamber every night and, after their first wedding night, he would have her executed. And Scheherazade, with interesting stories whose ending the king wanted to hear the next night, delayed the hour of her execution and during that time told a thousand and one stories and gave birth to the king's heirs to the throne. The stories are testimonies of the antiquity of the Arab world, they are about heroes and their exploits, but also fairy tales about life in the courts, as well as mythical truths about human exaltation and suffering. There are many miracles in them, but the greatest miracle is love, and therefore it is above all a collection of spiritual and sensual love as the highest human virtue.
